Letter to Little Peanut - 5 months

Dearest J,
Five months old already! Time is flying by and we are truly loving every second of it! You are becoming more and more your unique little individual and you are so much fun to love!
You are truly learning new things everyday and are amazing us each step of the way!
From now on, I am going to follow a new format for your letters to make sure I don’t miss anything.

Clothing Size: Mostly 6-9 months but some 3-6 months and some 6-12 months! You are such a big boy and you are already outgrowing clothes I planned on using for the Summer!

Favorite Toys: You absolutely LOVE Miss Sophie. You smile every time you see her and you love to suck on her. She was definitely worth every penny!

Favorite Activities: You still LOVE taking baths. Even if you are having a cranky night, you are always a happy boy in the bathtub. I think all of the baths I took while I was pregnant with you are wearing off on you.

You also love the Jumperoo. You are getting crazier and crazier in there. You are so cute. You jump up and down and squeal with delight. You like to talk to the animals on the Jumperoo and you are dang cute doing it. You play for about 20 minutes at a time and then you are sick of it and ready for the next activity.

You also love laying on your playmat. You like grabbing at the toys and scooching across the mat. Sometimes I will leave the room for a few minutes and come back and see that you have completely changed positions.

Other Milestones: You love to put anything in your mouth, especially your hands and your pacifier.

On Sunday, March 29, you rolled over from tummy to back for the first time. Daddy was the first person to see you do this. You continue to roll over from tummy to back, but don’t do it often as you do not like being on your stomach for long.

You tried cereal again on your four month birthday and have it almost nightly. You have also had sweet potatoes and carrots.

Mommy and daddy decided to start teaching you how to sign. The books suggest starting at around 6-7 months, but we figure you are so smart that we should start early:). We are working on the sign, “more”. We know it may take several weeks or months to accomplish this, but once you do, we will move on to more signs.

Favorite Food: Mostly mommy’s milk. Mommy is having a hard time keeping her supply up for your ravenous appetite, so you do get about 1 ½ formula bottles a day. You also get cereal nightly. You have also tried sweet potatoes and carrots. You seem to enjoy anything we feed you!

Number of Naps: You really do not have a predictable nap schedule yet. You take several 30-45 minute “cat naps” throughout the day. You also seem to nap anytime we are in the car.

Bedtime Routine: You are such a good boy at bedtime! Typically mommy or daddy gives you a bath and then mommy feeds you your last meal of the day. Sometimes we also read you a story. Mommy (and sometimes daddy) sing you a song and then either mommy or daddy put you in your crib, tucked in your favorite blanket and with the sunshine on.

We are enjoying you so much! You truly are the love of our lives and we cannot imagine going a day without you. It is our prayer that we become the best of parents for you and that we enable you to enjoy life to its fullest! Thank you for being such a sweet little boy. You are truly a miracle for which we are so thankful to God!

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

Easter Part II

On Sunday, Little Peanut enjoyed his first Easter. He went to church with mommy and daddy and mommy got to be in nursery with him which he really liked...ok, mommy liked:). After church, we went to Grandma and Grandpa Vander Vliet's house for a fun Easter egg hunt and some yummy food. Little Peanut did not find the most eggs, but he did find an egg with a gift certificate to Captain Sundae in it. I guess we know what he'll be wanting this Summer!

Happy Early Easter!

Little Peanut celebrated Easter with his Grandma and Grandpa Kuipers today. After a long day of re-roofing the Kuipers's house, the guys came inside and we had a very yummy pizza Easter dinner! The grandkids got their first Easter baskets and Little Peanut was quite excited about the books that were inside of his!

Little Peanut was up extra early this morning to have his 5 month pics taken. You can see a "sneak preview" of his pics at http://www.imagesofessence.com/ under the "blog" section. He was very good for the entire hour we were there, but he was a little stinker and we couldn't get him to crack a smile. Oh well.

After a long day of pictures, roofing, and Easter baskets, Little Peanut was in need of some serious chilling. Life is sure tough for a five-month old!

Elijah Cole

Brad's sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Jason, welcomed little Elijah Cole into the world today, Friday, at 6:09 p.m. Elijah had been wanted and prayed for for a very long time. He is truly an answer to prayers and we are so excited for Brenda and Jason. The name Elijah means "The Lord is God" and little Eli is truly a reminder that we do serve a great and glorious God and that all things are perfect in His timing.

Little Peanut is also quite excited to have a new little playmate and cousin so close in age. Congrats to you all!
